Yvette Kießling - (b. 1978), Ilmenau, Germany

Yvette Kießling, an internationally recognized artist based in Leipzig. The artist studied painting at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig under Professor Arno Rink from 1997 to 2003, continuing as a master student with Rink from 2004 to 2007. The artist has received numerous awards and residencies, including the Eb-Dietsch Prize for Art in Gera (2009), the Druckgrafikstipendium in Hohenossig (2006), and a scholarship from the Schulerstiftung in Wuppertal (2007).

Kießling approaches her work as a form of field research, examining the cultural imprints left on nature and the environment through immersive, long-term projects. Her paintings initially evoke untouched landscapes but soon reveal a deeply layered perspective, exploring how human migrations and encounters shape and rearrange ecosystems. Plants, in Kießling’s view, accumulate deep histories as they journey across continents, settle into new environments, and silently bear witness to human narratives spanning time and place.
